Learner's license appointments

Requirements for a Florida learner's license

All items listed below are required.

Must be at least 15 years old
If under 18 years old, must have a signed/notarized Parental Consent Form (Step-parents may not sign unless they have legally adopted the minor child.)
Proof of Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course completion

Drivers 18 and over must complete the Class E general knowledge exam in person.
Drivers under age 18: As of Aug. 1, 2025, applicants under age 18 are required to complete a 6-hour Driver Education Training Safety Course. The 4-hour TLSAE course is no longer be accepted. Exception: Applicants under age 18 who took the 4-hour TLSAE before Aug. 1, 2025, are exempt from the new requirement as long as the learner's permit is issued within one year of completion of the TLSAE course.

Testing options
The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions about traffic laws and traffic signs. The passing score is 80 percent or 40 out of 50 questions

Must provide documents needed to establish proof of identity, proof of social security number and proof of residential address
